From Furniture to Flooring

When it comes to hardwood floors, craftsmanship is critical. A fourth-generation woodworker, Everette began his career studying fine furniture making. It was there that he discovered hardwood flooring and a new way to think about the craft. “I discovered the trade of hardwood flooring while attending a fine woodworking school. That’s when I realized hardwood floors and stairs are much more than something you simply walk on—they are the largest piece of furniture in your home.”

That idea has become central to the way Furniture Grade Floors approaches every project

Everette was trained to think about wood as something worthy of attention: its grain, character, color, texture, and history. When he discovered hardwood flooring, he saw an opportunity to bring that same level of craftsmanship and intention to one of the most important elements of a home. A floor becomes the foundation for everything that happens above it. It is where people gather, where children grow up, where celebrations happen, and where everyday life unfolds.

For Everette, that makes a floor less like a building material and more like a piece of furniture—one designed to become part of the home for generations. “They are the foundation where connection happens and core memories are made.”

Wood Has a Story. So Do We.

Everette’s philosophy comes from a deep respect for the material itself. Every tree grows differently. Every board carries its own grain, character, color, and history. No two pieces are exactly alike.

He sees something familiar in that individuality.

“To me, the relationship between trees and humans is remarkably similar. Each piece of wood tells its own unique story—a different expression and a different past. Each piece stands alone, but when connected, they form something beautiful and symbiotic.”

That perspective is reflected in the way FGF works with homeowners and designers. Rather than treating every project as a formula, the goal is to understand what makes each home unique.

Everette's wife and our FGF co-owner, Brit, is also a woodworker, artist, and colorist, bringing her own creative perspective to the work. Together, they share a belief that the best spaces are thoughtful, personal, and built to last. Being a Colorado family also gives FGF an intimate understanding of the environment their clients call home.
